1. Alice L. Walton School of Medicine
The most exciting thing that’s been on the buzz for the last month is that Alice Walton is building a brand new college next to Crystal Bridges in Northwest Arkansas.
The unique thing about the Alice L. Walton School of Medicine is that it’s going to interconnect with the University of Arkansas and all the different things that happen medically
around the area.
The most exciting thing is that the college will focus on holistic medicine and self-care. It will be a brand new way of thinking about the medical field in the future.
The reason I think this is happening is the fact that Walmart is highly integrated into this whole process. Walmart is adding the service business to the product business as well.
I imagine we’ll see many more in-home health things happening in Walmart in the next five to ten years.
Walmart is pushing in-home health to leapfrog the competition through the Alice L. Walton School of Medicine, where doctors and nurses focus on in-home health, holistic healthcare, and self-care against the standard way of doing medicine that has been for quite some time.
We expect the first class to be in 2023, and I’m excited about how this pans out. The college is now hiring people to become deans, admissions staff, and teachers, so if you are looking for a job in Northwest Arkansas and the medical field, you may want to check their website for the different positions offered.

2. Crystal Bridges Expansion
I know the Crystal Bridges expansion is happening now. They’re going to add a couple of different wings to Crystal Bridges.
If you’re unaware, the cool thing with Crystal Bridges is that it is free for anyone coming through the area to check it out. You don’t have to be an Arkansas resident to enter Crystal Bridges for free. There’s so much art and different, enjoyable things to do at Crystal Bridges all year.
There’s also a brand new light show in Crystal Bridges that you can check out, starting in about two weeks or so. Crystal Bridges do an incredible light show annually, bringing it back for Christmas.
Another cool thing currently happening until January 2023 is that organizers will feature copies of the United States Constitution, the Declaration of Independence, the Federalist Papers, and several original paintings of some of America’s founders at Crystal Bridges.
If you are interested in history and want to see America’s heritage and old documents that have been around for 300 years, check this out in Crystal Bridges with your children.
When you are in Crystal Bridges, you’ll notice a lot of ongoing construction on the west side, adding 100,000-200,000 square feet. And I’m excited to see what the addition is. Crystal Bridges is constantly expanding, and I’m all for it.
If you want to know more activities that you can do around the Crystal Bridges area, feel free to check out my post about the best things children can do in Bentonville.
Also, I have a 3-day itinerary that can help you decide what activities to do if you’re overwhelmed by everything Northwest Arkansas has to offer.

3. New Biking Trails
A few days ago, they announced that they are building 18 miles of new pathways around the University of Arkansas, which trails within the university.
Many cities are trying to get away from using vehicles as much, so they want
to use mopeds, bikes, and other transportation besides cars. They’re trying to encourage people to work around all of Fayetteville in the biking paths and the trail system, and one big push they’re trying to do is add more trail systems around the university.
This new pathway will be fun and make everything transportable around the whole area, even better than before. So it would be cool to see going to the university and all the different trail systems and other cool things because you have to get out of your car and walk to get through the university.
I think they’re finishing that up here pretty soon. I know construction is starting here more quickly, and it won’t take too long to finish, so I’m excited to see that happen and be done by the wintertime.

4. New Restaurants
So many new restaurants have opened here in the Northwest Arkansas area.
I don’t think I can keep up with all these restaurants because there are so many, and they’re all very unique in that they’re not cookie-cutter restaurants, and they’re just trying different things. I’m excited to try these restaurants between Rogers, Bentonville, Fayetteville, and Bella Vista.
5. Mercy Expansion
Last but certainly not the least new is the new $500 million facility they plan to build on the Mercy Hospital in the Rogers-Lowell area.
Northwest Arkansas is a large medical area between the Veterans Hospital, the Mercy Hospital, the new Alice L. Walton School of Medicine, the Washington Regional, and the Arkansas Children’s.
It is a heavy medical area because we have the universities and the University Medical Center, so we do a lot of research here. We bring a lot of residencies here to finish out the doctoral programs. Many nurses also come through here.
So it is exciting to have a brand new facility and see more and more investment in the medical field being developed in Northwest Arkansas as the area has grown substantially and it’s going
to grow substantially
All these medical facilities, colleges, and everyone else is trying to beat the curve to ensure we have the capacity for all the new people coming to Northwest Arkansas.
