Northwest Arkansas Has More Coffee Shops Coming

Did you know the American Revolution was planned in coffeehouses? In fact, they’ve always attracted great minds and visionary thinkers throughout history — and, of course, people who just want a good cup of joe. If you like coffee and are dropping by Northwest Arkansas anytime soon, you’re in luck!

Northwest Arkansas has Airship Coffee, which you can find at the Ledger and the Pumphouse. Meanwhile, Arsaga’s Coffee Roasters is at the University of Arkansas Law Library. Finally, Confident Coffee Roasters and Third Space Coffee will open in Rogers and 8th Street Gateway Park, respectively.

Today, I’ll be talking about five different coffee shops, including two that have yet to open as of this writing. Read on to find out why I’m excited for these Northwest Arkansas coffee shops in particular.

Airship Coffee at the Ledger

The first one we need to talk about, and this one is open, is the Airship Coffee at the Ledger. If you don’t know what the Ledger is, it’s the world’s first truly bikeable building. And it has a really cool story behind it.

A few years ago, WeWork was supposed to have a building in downtown Bentonville. However, WeWork went belly up for one reason or other.

So local investors, instead of abandoning the project, decided to design a whole new building, which turned out to be better than what WeWork had in mind. They designed it as the world’s first bikeable building and called it “Ledger.”

You can bike through and around the building — literally everywhere. It’s also designed as a co-working space for larger companies and startups or people who just want an office at the Ledger, since there’s office space available for you to rent.

Another cool thing about the Ledger is that it has a test kitchen. If you’re culinarily inclined, you can test out various products here. You can also bring the blinds down to set up the space to your liking.

So if you want a boardroom or do a trial test for a product, you can do it in the kitchen. But anyways, enough about the Ledger.

Let’s talk about Airship Coffee in the Ledger. It’s cool for them to have a coffee shop inside the world’s first bikeable building. As it’s home to several businesses, employees drop by to grab coffee during the day.

They pretty much have the same ambiance as their coffee shops in other locations. You can also check out Airship Coffee on Fifth Street, as they do all their roasting there.

Also, I think they took a huge risk by building a coffee shop in Kohler Mountain, as you can only get there by biking or hiking. Think about it: What kind of business sets up a shop in a place that customers can only access via bike or foot?

That aside, they have a cool design philosophy, as it feels like a throwback to the eighties. Not only is the branding cool, but the coffee also tastes amazing. If you’re visiting the Ledger, their Airship Coffee outlet is worth checking out.

Airship Coffee at The Pumphouse

Number two continues with the Airship Coffee theme. Airship Coffee is opening at the Pumphouse, close to downtown Bentonville. It’s about two blocks north of downtown Bentonville, off NWA St.

You can access it by walking or following different trails. It’s close to Crystal Bridges Trail, a cool place to visit and hang out.

This multi-level building is called a pumphouse because it looks like an old-school pumphouse (and it was one back in the day). Over the years, it has gone through several iterations. For example, it was a playground at one point.

The Pumphouse has seen a lot during its time in Bentonville. Currently, it’s being re-designed and developed into a multi-story building with a coffee shop. The styling is a throwback to the fifties, sixties, and seventies.

So it’s both a cool monument and coffee shop to visit in downtown Bentonville. I’ll be honest: It’s refreshing to see Airship Coffee theming across the board.

Arsaga’s Coffee Roasters at the University of Arkansas

And number three is also a coffee shop that opened its doors recently at the University of Arkansas (U of A). U of A’s Design School opened another coffee shop in Fayetteville. U of A is also building two new buildings on Martin Luther King (MLK) Jr Boulevard, a major hub.

These buildings are design centers and will bring together everything that comes under art, culture, and design. The first building is currently done, and the second one is being built.

It’s going to be named after Faye Jones, an architect who trained with Frank Lloyd Wright and is famous in Northwest Arkansas. Several buildings use his style, especially homes across Northwest Arkansas. Since he’s a well-known figure in the Northwest Arkansas design industry, it’s no surprise they’re naming the buildings after him.

Arsaga’s will be setting up their coffee shop in this design center. If you’re visiting MLK Jr. Boulevard, you won’t miss this building as it’s massive.

It’s across the street from Fayetteville High School. So, the coffee shop is close to the area’s educational hub.

Confident Coffee Roasters at Rogers

The fourth is Confident Coffee Roasters, located in the Johnson area. Wedged between Springdale and Fayetteville, they have an amazing coffee shop. They’re also opening their second outlet in Rogers.

Although it will take a while before they open, I’m excited to see how they’ll design their store. I wonder if they’ll take inspiration from their outlet in Johnson. I’ll bet they’ll have plenty of baked goods in the new store, because the Johnson outlet had one.

Third Space Coffee at 8th Street Park

And the last one I want to mention is Third Space Coffee. Now, this is by far the most mysterious new coffee brand to enter the Northwest Arkansas market, as they don’t have any stores in this region.

The cool thing is that they’re building their outlet in 8th Street Gateway Park. This park is being redesigned and built from the ground up in the next couple of years.

8th Street Gateway Park is a massive park covering more than 109 acres. As Bentonville has already prepared the park’s new blueprints, they’ve already started the redesign. Also, the council will be connecting the park to Kohler Mountain via a pathway.

Third Space Coffee will be next to the pet adoption center. I can’t wait to see how this place will turn out once all the construction is complete.

Having this coffee store here will be a game changer, as you can enjoy a hot cup of coffee and watch the pets play in the park.
