Why You Should Look Along Interstate 49, Arkansas

Interstate 49 runs for a 72-mile (115 km) stretch through Northwest Arkansas. This interstate is part of the High Priority corridor from Shreveport, Louisiana, to Kansas City, Kansas. The Interstate 49 corridor is a high-growth area, perfect for easy access to the interstate and land that will increase in value.

West Fork, Arkansas

I always recommend that people look at West Fork, Arkansas, due to its rapid growth and proximity to the interstate for convenient travel and work. Many people think they have to live in Fayetteville, but West Fork is a hidden gem.

Nestled in the breathtaking Ozark Mountains, West Fork is only 10 miles(16.1 km) south of the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville. Originally a timber and mining community, West Fork boasts a small-town feel with plenty of future expansion possibilities.

You’ll find exceptional schools and a mild climate throughout the year’s four seasons. There are plenty of outdoor activities nearby for all ages.

We have the perfect weekend planned for you! My Perfect Weekend in Bentonville!

Also, I have a 3-day itinerary that can help you decide what activities to do if you’re overwhelmed by everything Northwest Arkansas has to offer.

It doesn’t matter if you’re a foodie, a sports person, a sightseer, or want to spend quality time with your kids; I have something for you. Check out the link below to learn more:

Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art

This free museum houses world-class American Art on over 120 acres (48.6 hectares) of the Ozark Mountains. Once you finish appreciating the art collection, over 5 miles (8.04 km) of hiking trails are waiting for you to head outside.

The museum regularly hosts family-friendly activities, concerts, and tours all year, where your children can attend free art classes and week-long summer art camps. They also offer online art instruction for kids to do at home.

Beaver Lake

Anglers, hikers, and water lovers flock to Beaver Lake, located in the Ozark Highlands near Rogers, Arkansas. It’s famous for bass fishing and is home to multiple fishing tournaments.

There are designated swimming areas with bathrooms and showers for use. You can kayak, scuba dive, water ski, and wakeboard, or you can put your boat at the boat ramp at the Prairie Creek Marina and enjoy time at the Prairie Creek Park.

Devil’s Den State Park

Devil’s Den State Park is an Arkansas icon, constructed in the 1930s by the Civilian Conservation Corps. You will see rock formations and caverns as you hike, mountain bike ride, and backpack through the park’s expansive trails.

You can reserve one of their 17 cabins or 135 campsites to swim in the 8-acre (3.23 hectare) Lake Devil and hike or horseback ride. There is a park store, a pavilion, a cafe, and a pool.

Moving to Northwest Arkansas? Here are a few tips

Winslow, Arkansas

Another great place to consider is Winslow, Arkansas, a small town of around 400 people. It’s midway between Fort Smith and Fayetteville at the southern edge of the Ozark Mountains and is a perfect location for people who don’t want to be in a big city like Fayetteville.

Lincoln, Savoy, Farmington —

Another exceptional area to consider for buying property or a home is the Lincoln, Savoy, and Farmington triangle area. The land in this triangle is flat and ideal for building. The Savoy area boasts dazzling streams and scenic bluffs.

One of the places I encourage visitors to look is near Lake Wedington. There are miles and miles of hiking and mountain biking trails, while the lake is perfect for fishing and kayaking.

Planning a trip to Northwest Arkansas? We got you!

Lake Wedington

Located west of Fayetteville is Lake Wedington, a 102-mile (164 km) lake on State Highway 16. It boasts the following:

  •  Group camping site
  • A pavilion
  • Bathhouses
  • A boat launch
  • A lodge
  • A volleyball court
  • Private campsites
  • A swimming area

There are two trails for hiking, the North Twin hiking and mountain biking trail and the Lakeshore Hiking Trail. The lake and surrounding areas are pet-friendly and wheelchair accessible. With picnic pavilions for large groups, Lake Wedington has everything you need to enjoy a vacation by the lake.

Sulfur Springs, Gravitt, Gentry, and Decatur Arkansas

These cities all fall along Highway 59, which branches off Highway 49. There is so much land ready for purchase to build your home in this area. These cities let you live in a rural area with plenty of outdoor activities, while Bentonville is only 20 minutes away when you want to go to a bigger city.

Goshen and Elkins, Arkansas

Goshen and Elkins are close to Bentonville, the home of Wal-Mart, but they offer a mixture of farmland, hills, and lakes. Elkins, in particular, has ample forest land but you are still close to Beaver Lake and the expansive trail system.

Perhaps the best part of this area is its proximity to Lake Sequoia.

Lake Sequoia

Lake Sequoia boasts over 300 acres (121.4 hectares) of water and 1,400 acres (566.6 hectares) of land. Originally built as a reservoir, today the lake offers:

  • Fishing
  • Boating
  • Hiking
  • Canoeing
  • Kayaking
  • Perfect picnic spots

People love to walk the Nature Trail and bird watch in search of the American Bald Eagle, Great Blue Heron, and the Belted Kingfisher.
