Why You Shouldn’t Write Off Siloam Springs, Arkansas

For those who don’t know, Siloam Springs is technically part of Northwest Arkansas, and it doesn’t get talked about enough. It’s located on the outskirts and closer to the border of Oklahoma but is still considered part of the northwest area.

It has many great features that shouldn’t be overlooked, making it a fantastic place to live. From affordable housing to easy access to nearby cities, let’s look at the benefits Siloam Springs can offer you.

There Is Very Affordable Housing

One of the best features of Siloam Springs is the affordable housing you can find there. This makes it an excellent place to live if you want to get into and buy in the Northwest Arkansas area. However, there is a bit of a drive to get into the true Northwest Arkansas.

If you’re looking for affordable housing and acreage, you don’t want to write of Siloam Springs. It’s an excellent place with a fun downtown area.

The Connection to the 412

There’s a really cool development between Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Northwest Arkansas. In between Siloam Springs is a major highway called the 412.

Essentially, this highway starts in Springdale, Arkansas, and runs the entire length to Tulsa. It technically goes a little further than Springdale, but we’ll say it starts there for our purposes. This means these two cities have a direct connection with Siloam Springs wedged right in the middle.

There have been many industrial handshakes between Northwest Arkansas and Tulsa. A lot of grant money has been provided to help develop the 412, which eventually turns into the Oklahoma Turnpike.

A significant amount of business and commerce happen along that corridor because of the direct connection. There’s been a lot of business completed to buy out the land, and many kinds of businesses and warehouses are available along the highway.

Because of the connection so close to Siloam Springs, the town is expected to grow exponentially in the next five to ten years.

Also, I have a 3-day itinerary that can help you decide what activities to do if you’re overwhelmed by everything Northwest Arkansas has to offer.

It doesn’t matter if you’re a foodie, a sports person, a sightseer, or want to spend quality time with your kids; I have something for you. Check out the link below to learn more:

Easy Access to Springdale

When you choose to live in Siloam Springs, you’ll have straightforward access to Springdale by taking the 412. It might be a 15-minute drive, but it will take you straight into the Springdale-Tontitown area.

Tontitown is connected to Springdale; having them right there means you’ll have access to more commerce and bigger businesses. For example, Tyson is right there. So, if you have a job there or are considering a job there, the commute is easy, and you’ll have direct access.

The easy access from Siloam Springs to Springdale makes getting around much more manageable.

Fun Things To Do in Siloam Springs, Arkansas

While Siloam Springs has a lot going for it in terms of amenities and infrastructure, it’s not without fun things to do.

It’s also a college town featuring John Brown University, a non-denominational Christian university. This lends the city a more dynamic nature than others. While it is a Christian college town, it may not feature the same activities that a typical state university town may feature.

However, there are plenty of activities to take part in that are fun and great for the whole family.

A Free Kayaking Park

Right in Siloam Springs is a major kayaking park that offers free access for everyone. The park is an excellent experience because you can go out there and practice your kayaking on whitewater rapids right in the park.

Of course, it’s nowhere near the rapids you’ll experience in Colorado. However, it does feature some whitewater rapids and has a safe on-ramp to practice some of the going-underwater-type rapids you will encounter in other places.

An Aquatic-Themed Park Downtown

In addition to a great kayaking experience, there’s a fantastic aquatic park in Siloam Springs, located in the downtown section. It features excellent slides and a vast pool.

It has everything you could want for a small community aquatic center. They plan on bigger and better things as Siloam Springs expands.

It’s great for a decent small-sized city to have an aquatic park for the families there. Additionally, it’s great that it’s available during the off-school season, so the kids have something constructive to do.

City Lake Offers Many Attractions

I consider City Lake in Siloam Springs the equivalent of Lake Fayetteville in Fayetteville, but a lot smaller. However, it offers a lot of trail systems and a pump park for biking. City Lake has the same vibes as Lake Fayetteville when it comes to walking paths and hiking paths.

Siloam Springs has that cool, fun place to hang out if you just want to be outside around the lake and have that experience around the water. You can drop the kids off and just walk around the lake.

The kids can go to the pump park to enjoy the bikes or go on some biking trails, and it’s a complete family experience that you’ll find right in Siloam Springs.
