Phillip ShepardBy Phillip Shepard5 Mins Read

Are you new to the area? Do you need to make new friends and get settled? Then come to my next Welcome to NWA event in Bentonville, Arkansas!

I set up the Welcome to NWA event in Bentonville, Arkansas, for new residents to meet new people, hang out, and have a good time. It’s held every third Thursday at the Blake Street house from 6-8 PM, and attendees must be 21 and over.

I know what it’s like to be new in the area and not have any friends, which is why I set this up. Keep reading to learn more details.

Welcome NWA Details and Resources

Set aside time on your calendar every third Thursday of the month and head to the Blake Street house in Bentonville, Arkansas. If you want to know more details, you can ask to be added to the spreadsheet for Facebook invites so you’ll always know when to show up.

The event is usually held from 6-8 PM, but this is subject to change. So be sure to sign up for the details.

NWA’s Own Soho House–Blake Street

A Soho House is a social membership club with locations worldwide. But not just anyone can sign up for membership, as it’s an exclusive club for those in the creative arts community, such as media, arts, and fashion. As of 2021, they had 119,000 members in 27 houses across 10 countries.

Northwest Arkansas has its own Soho house on Blake Street. Well, not formally, anyway, but it’s very similar in format and design. The house is focused on wellness and the greater good and wants members who have the same values that can contribute to the community.

But how did the house get started?

Blake Street House History

The original house was actually built on one of Bentonville’s original 166 lots in 1880 for a total cost of $2,000. Thomas Taylor Blake, the original owner, was a local hotel proprietor, businessman, and sheriff who also owned several other businesses in the area at the time.

It originally had 2 levels with 4 bedrooms.

After many years, and many renovation attempts later, when the social club tried to move it to its new location to be the entrance for a larger “clubhouse,” it collapsed. They wanted to restore it back to its original shape, but this unfortunate incident stopped those plans.

Instead, they rebuilt the home on the same lot according to the original blueprints; then built a 12,000 square foot building around it. The rebuilt “original” house serves as a parlor to welcome guests or to allow members to relax and socialize on their way in or out of the club.

Social Club Focused on Wellness

According to their site, the Blake Street house is focused on “good health, clarity of mind, and a degree of camaraderie.” They accomplish this through the use of the following:

  • A state-of-the-art gym
  • Hot tub
  • A studio for yoga, meditation or HIIT classes
  • Spa offerings
  • Personal training sessions
  • A swimming pool
  • Nutrition counseling
  • Local, chef-made food and drink meant to nourish the body and soul

It’s also a haven for self-care, art, and intentional community.

Besides being the location for the Welcome to NWA event, you can also apply for membership in the house. The benefits include:

  • Full use of the house and wellness facilities
  • Access to fitness and wellness professionals
  • Exclusive invites to all the hosted events within the house
  • Use of the electric car charging station

All members must be 21 years or older and must pay their membership dues monthly. If you live out of town, but within 100 miles of Bentonville, you can join at a discounted rate.

Location of the Event

Now that you know about the Blake Street House and why it’s such a big deal, you can understand why I’m so excited about the Welcome to NWA event. I would love to see you there–it’s located at:

301 NE Blake Ave

Bentonville, Arkansas

You don’t need to dress up if you don’t normally dress up. Come as you are, so if you like wearing jeans and a t-shirt, then by all means, come like that. We want you to be comfortable and ready to meet new people, network with others in your field, and have a great time.

Conclusion

If you’re new to the area, you’ll definitely want to check out the Welcome to NWA event in Bentonville, Arkansas! Remember, it’s held every third Thursday from 6-8 PM at the Blake Street House. Wear what you’re comfortable in and prepare to have a great time.

And if you’re going to be in the area at any other time, let me know and I can give you the $10 tour, including the Blake Street House. If you want to tour that, however, you’ll have to contact them and schedule a tour with the owners.
