Weird Alternate Transportation in Northwest Arkansas? Bikes, Scooters and Mopeds

Northwest Arkansas is the most fantastic place to live in America, and I want as many people as possible to move here! Among the many amazing things about Northwest Arkansas are the alternative transportation methods you can use while you’re here. Northwest Arkansas has trail, road, and bus systems that cater to many alternate transportation methods.

Weird alternate transport methods in NWA include:

  1. Bikes
  2. Scooters or E-Bikes
  3. Mopeds
  4. Public transportation
  5. Legs

This article will delve into these alternative transportation methods and why they’re considered weird. Let’s get started!

Video:

1. Bikes

The first alternative method of transportation is this new technology called a bike. I know, wild! If you aren’t aware, NWA, Northwest Arkansas, has over 300, almost 400 miles (480 to 643 km) of trail systems located right in this area.

One of the things that NWA specifically has focused on for the last 15 years is building a really robust trail system located in and outside all the cities. This ensures that the people that live here can travel around the whole area without actually using a bike.

Specifically, in Bentonville, their goal is for people to be able to live downtown and bike from work to home, to restaurants, and everywhere. They’ve set up such an elaborate trail system there that is absolutely amazing. When you do take a trip to Bentonville, definitely notice all the bikes everywhere around town.

So many restaurants, businesses, and everyone cater to bikes in Bentonville, and they also cater to bikes in Fayetteville, without a doubt.

We know some of you love the attention to detail, but for those who want to look at whole of NWA: Official NWA tour is for you

2. Scooters or E-bikes

The second kind of alternate transportation method in NWA are scooters or e-bikes – kind of the same thing there. Fayetteville specifically is a college town, and there are scooters everywhere around town.

You’re not going to find a place where you cannot pick up a scooter and just scoot around somewhere else. One thing I love about Fayetteville is that you can just scoot around town from one side to the other really quickly. You can go on the sidewalks, or anywhere you want to on the trail system and move around town efficiently with just a scooter.

People, especially college students, just buy a scooter and scoot everywhere around town on the trail system or sidewalks, not on the roads. We have several scooter companies located right here, so you can find scooters everywhere. You’re never going to be in a place where you can’t find a scooter.

One of the best things about the scooter ecosystem around here is that they have so many scooters located out by Lake Fayetteville. So, Lake Fayetteville is a fun place to bring your friends and family to go fishing or kayaking, scoot around the whole five-mile (8 km) loop, and just have a blast with all the scooters out there.

Don’t be surprised if you see a lot of scooters and bikes just floating around.

Still not sure if Northwest Arkansas is for you? : Find out!

Also, I have a 3-day itinerary that can help you decide what activities to do if you’re overwhelmed by everything Northwest Arkansas has to offer.

It doesn’t matter if you’re a foodie, a sports person, a sightseer, or want to spend quality time with your kids; I have something for you. Check out the link below to learn more:

3. Mopeds

The third alternate transportation method in NWA is mopeds. There are several different moped companies located right in Fayetteville and Bentonville, and one that I find amazing is called the Scoot Tribe.

Scoot Tribe is located right on the college avenue and has unlimited mopeds. You can buy one and just moped around town. Fayetteville has lowered their speed limit to 25 in most areas, so mopeds, scooters, and bikes all feel very comfortable if they decide to get on the street and go around.

This applies to Bentonville as well, so don’t be surprised if you’re up in Bentonville and see a lot of mopeds hanging around town and scooting around instead of using bikes or other methods of transportation, like a car. We don’t use cars around here.

That’s a joke. We have cars.

Along with all this, Northwest Arkansas is filled with business opportunities! Read Best startups and new companies in NWA to know more!

4. Public Transportation

Let’s not forget about the public transportation system located around all of NWA! The city has a very robust public transportation system between public transit and the college. If you’re thinking about coming to college here or you have a college student that’s looking to come here, there is a very robust public transportation system for your college students.

They travel all around Fayetteville, picking up students and dropping them off. In case you don’t want to get the student a scooter or a car or they don’t live close enough on campus, they can definitely use the public transportation system because it goes everywhere in Fayetteville.

In case you aren’t going to college, there is a very robust bus system that goes from Bentonville all the way down to Springdale Rogers. If you don’t have or want to own a car, scooter or bike, just use the public transportation system.

5. Legs

Last but not least – this might be kind of an obvious one – but legs. Legs are the alternate method when it comes to transportation around NWA! I’m not being silly. The reason I’m bringing that up is that there are so many trail systems and side roads that you can use to travel to other areas just by walking, especially in Bentonville and Fayetteville.

Once you get in that local area, you can walk anywhere around town – between restaurants, libraries, businesses, and everywhere you would need. You could live downtown Bentonville and Fayetteville and never have to own a car because everything’s located centrally right there.

When you do come down here, give me a call so we can check out some homes and see how far your dollar will go in Northwest Arkansas compared to where you’re coming from.
