When we were living in Chicago, we felt there must be a place that’s relatively close by with warmer weather and better opportunities. That’s when we stumbled upon Fayetteville, Arkansas. Honestly, it has so much to offer our kids and us.
We moved to Fayetteville, Arkansas, from Chicago because opportunities just keep growing by the day. Our four sons can have an education we could only dream of, and we’re inundated with job opportunities here. Also, there’s so much to do and see here, from metropolitan events in the city to nature.

What We Like About Fayetteville, Arkansas
Not only is Fayetteville beautiful and really warm, but the opportunities are just as amazing. Unless you come down and see it, I don’t think you’ll have an idea what it’s really like here.
When I (Joe) was in Chicago, I would take those hand warmers, and I would put them in my pockets and my shoes. I would do that regularly from January to April because it’s so cold in Chicago during that time. After that, I just decided that there had to be a better way of living life.
There’s just so much to like in Fayetteville, Arkansas:
- Shopping is wonderful.
- The friendliness of everybody here.
- Fayetteville just keeps growing.
- Most importantly – all the opportunities.
We really want opportunities for our kids to be able to have jobs, be in a metropolitan area, and have the opportunity to further their careers, but also just things to do for us. Honestly, there’s something for everybody here.
It’s true, there’s a lot for us here, but we’re also looking forward to being grandparents one day. We just want our sons to grow up in a place where they have opportunities and where they can raise a family.
What’s really great about this is we’re not six states over, allowing us to be involved grandparents in the future. Fayetteville offers everything for kids as well as adults.

Education in Fayetteville’s on Another Level
Education’s important for me (Joe) as an educator. So, for our sons, we want to make sure not only that they have opportunities in terms of their careers, but we have to put four sons through college (and hopefully do it without debt).
So, the only way we thought we could get that done was to find a place that could meet those needs.
Apart from that, education here is so affordable and offers so much. I mean, for our little guys, Arkansas Arts Academy High School is simply amazing! I (Joe) also attended the School of the Art Institute of Chicago for some time, and we didn’t have anything like that at a high school level.
So for one of our sons, this is a perfect fit. And it’s in Rogers, and we’re just amazed – it’s so cute.

There Are Many Job Opportunities As Well
It’s definitely true there are many job opportunities in Fayetteville, Arkansas. I mean, I’m (Julia) here because there are so many medical centers. So, there’s definitely going to be an opportunity for me to find a job without any problems being a nurse. I’ve predominantly been a pediatric nurse, and it’s just so exciting to know there’s a Pediatric hospital out here.
So I’ll probably be tapping into that type of industry.
Apart from nursing and medical professions, there are countless other industries and new start-ups in Northwest Arkansas. Read my other article about the best start-ups and new companies here to get a clear picture of all the opportunities in different industries.
Actually, just come out here, and check it out because you have to do it. People aren’t really familiar with the Northwest Arkansas area. So a lot of our friends, when we told them that we’re going to be moving out to Northwest Arkansas, they were like, “What’s out there?”
So let us tell you something about that too.
Things To Do and See in Fayetteville, Arkansas
Once again, we invite you to actually come out and experience this city yourself because it’s just amazing. There’s so much to do and see out here.
Every time we come out, it has exceeded our expectations. The first time we saw downtown Fayetteville we were almost a little giddy.
There are some great places to eat. In that sense, we feel that we’re losing nothing in terms of coming from Chicago. If you’re a foodie and you’re from Chicago, you probably have a pretty high standard, right? And we feel there’s no drop-off in Fayetteville.
But the main thing we’d say in regards to Fayetteville is – opportunity. It’s growing exponentially. Every time we travel down, there’s a new path or something new they’re building. So, for a young person, that’s what you want.
What we really like about Northwest Arkansas is that it’s got a lot of nature. You’re able to do a lot more during the four seasons as opposed to in Chicago, where we’re kind of cooped up constantly.
During the wintertime, you can actually be out in winter and still bike and do outdoor activities, and it’s beautiful.
We love:
- The trees
- Biking
- Checking out the trails
- Being outdoors as much as possible.
