Among my favorite places to hang out in Northwest Arkansas is Puritan Coffee. I love the location because it’s open for most of the day. Moreover, they have fantastic coffee and a great room to work or hang out with friends.
Puritan Coffee is a coffee shop on Dixon Street, Fayetteville, that brews fantastic drinks. Their architecture is impressive, with a great outdoor space to work or mingle with friends. They also recently added Markham and Fitz Chocolate (a local Bentonville brand) to their shop.
The pop-up store opened from September 1, 2022, through December 31, 2022, selling chocolate bars, cookies, and truffles. In this article, I’ll describe everything I love about Puritan Coffee and give a brief overview of some similar coffee shops throughout Northwest Arkansas.

When Is the Best Time To Visit Puritan Coffee?
Puritan Coffee is open for nearly 16 hours every day. However, even though they’re open most of the day, I don’t advise stopping whenever you want because it’s often crowded. If you prefer a calmer atmosphere, quiet, and quick service, I recommend going in the mornings.
The best time to visit Puritan Coffee daily is 7:30 am–9 am because it’s the least crowded. However, it can still get quite crowded during weekends because many people make breakfast appointments at this shop to catch up with each other or hang out with friends.
Visitors typically spend over 20 minutes at the shop with each visit, which isn’t surprising due to its cozy atmosphere.
It’s also okay to stop in the afternoon from 12 pm until 3 pm, but the restaurant will be more congested with college students than in the morning on most days.
During evenings (7 pm–11 pm), Puritan Coffee mainly attracts alcohol lovers because there’s a bar in the venue. It gets busy on trivia nights with loud music, so only visit if you’re comfortable with such a setting.
You’ll still have access to the full menu, regardless of timing, although this is subject to availability. Hence, if you’re okay with spending more time than budgeted for your order and compromising on background noise and sitting position, any time is ideal to stop at this location.
Recommended Drinks at Puritan Coffee
Puritan is more than just a coffee shop. They serve alcohol — from branded beers to cocktails — and even have guest bartenders. Moreover, you can pair your drink with available foods (especially pastries).
The Americanos at Puritan Coffee is one of their most recommended drinks. They come in iced or hot varieties, suitably paired with various snacks, including brownies.
The menu is subject to slight changes every season, but the following drinks always attract hundreds of visitors weekly.
Americano
Whether you’re here to study, socialize, enjoy the free Wifi, or listen to music, Puritan’s sweet Americano makes every minute worthwhile.
Many customers enjoy them iced with some scones and brownies, but there are many other options to explore if you’re hungry.
Matcha Latte
Matcha Latte is another delicious drink you must try at least once here. It’s a Savoy product — a tea company with a branch in Fayetteville — but you may prefer Puritan’s steeping method better.
This green beverage is a fan favorite throughout the year, and I can guarantee you’ll love it too!
Cortado
Every sip of this restaurant’s Cortado is genuinely refreshing. You can pair it with some breakfast burritos or grilled cheese.
The drink is a simple combination of espresso and steamed milk, but not all coffee makers do it quite like Puritan. It’s an outstanding drink and one of my favorites.

Onyx Coffee Lab
From several customer reviews, Onyx Coffee Lab is unarguably one of the best coffee shops in Northwest Arkansas. They have locations all over the region, but their headquarters is in Rogers.
You can enjoy your coffee at all their branches, but only the Fayetteville shop doesn’t offer a delivery service. However, I don’t necessarily see that as a negative because the location has such a cozy, welcoming atmosphere that it’s a pleasure to sit there and relax.
A serene patio and free wifi is available in all the locations, and the home office can impressively accommodate 100+ people.
7 Brew Coffee
7 Brew Coffee is another renowned coffee shop based in Rogers, NWA. However, they only offer drive-thrus 5:30 am-10 pm daily (extends to 11 pm on Friday and Saturday).
They offer iced or hot drinks in the following categories.
- The Seven Originals
- Classics
- Seven Energy
- Teas
- Seven Fizz
- Smoothies
- Shakes
- Kids
If you are okay with spending some time in line for a fantastic coffee, head to 7 Brew whenever you’re around. It has incredible coffee and great customer service.
Airship Coffee
I’ve discussed Airship Coffee before, as they are one of the region’s best coffee producers. They have a shop in Coler Mountains and will be on the Ledger’s ground floor when it opens. However, the one on 5th St, Bentonville, is their most-visited in Northwest Arkansas.
If you’re not enjoying one of their incredible drinks, you can hang around in their spacious facility, relishing the aroma of the roasted beans.
Heroes Coffee
During my visit to Bentonville, I stopped by Heroes Coffee, a charming coffee shop housed in a converted gas station northeast of 8th Street.
The live roastery ambiance and modern decor instantly drew me in, and I was not disappointed by the variety of specialty coffee drinks made with locally roasted beans. I also indulged in some delicious pastries that complimented my coffee perfectly.
Overall, I would highly recommend Heroes Coffee to anyone visiting Bentonville. But if you’re looking for information to help make up your mind, check out my review of Heroes Coffee.
