Like many other Northwest Arkansas towns, Bella Vista has been experiencing a population boom since the start of the century. Every part of the town is likable, and I would love to share some of my favorite features of the area.
One of my favorite things about Bella Vista is the gorgeous scenery. Trees are ever-green, seven lakes wind the area, and slow-moving waterfalls gift the chance to track every falling drop. Moreover, I love the cluster of trail systems that pass through almost every home.
If you’re contemplating moving to Northwest Arkansas, continue reading this article to understand why it’s a great decision.

1. Trees and Nature
Bella Vista is truly like a natural paradise with so many beautiful roads. You can’t go anywhere in town and not be astonished by the abundance of green trees and natural charms. Some roads are lined with pine trees all through.
Beyond the flourishing trees are also lakes with waterfalls. They don’t run when it’s dry, but usually, in the spring, winter, and fall, you can enjoy their scenery.
There are times when my clients have come down to Northwest Arkansas, wondering the best town to move into, and they end up in Bella Vista so often because it’s just so gorgeous here.
For most, it is always reminiscent of their former home, whether they’re coming from western America or maybe Colorado.
2. You’re Tucked Away
Bella Vista’s lush greenery makes you feel like you’re always tucked away. It’s one reason why people often purchase a home in a cul-de-sac, without neighbors or busy roads around. It’s just trees and nature behind them.
Since everyone’s buying or building a house in Bella Vista, you may think it’s becoming too crowded, which isn’t the case. So many lots here are so steep that people are not building on them yet.
They just buy and hold them for amenities because they want access to golf courses, swimming pools, lakes, etc. They will not be built on because they’re so steep.
Hence, if you buy a home in Bella Vista, you will be tucked away in your little slice of paradise. For sure. Having a neighbor behind you in Bella Vista will be a rare day.
3. Golf, Pools, and Lakes
If you are a Bella Vista Property Owners Association member, meaning you’re living there or own a property, you have very cheap access to the golf courses. It’s a lot more expensive for non-members. Members pay about $6 for an 18-round of golf.
There are seven complete 18 courses in Bella Vista, plus two nine-hole and some mini-golf ones. You will have an endless and memorable golfing experience, and it’s so exciting that you’ll always be next to golf courses.
Furthermore, there are seven full lakes in Bella Vista, so if you’re into fishing, swimming, or any water sport, remember to be there.
Only two of the seven lakes allow motors like kayaks and canoes, making fishing much better and easier. You will catch a lot more fish because it’s less troubled water.
4. Trails
As you may already know, Bella Vista has many miles of trails. Hence, you will never be bored if you’re into hiking, biking, or running.
If you buy a house in Bella Vista, you will likely end up near the back 40 trails, the Sugar Creek trails, Blowing Springs, and more, with many entrances and exits.
Outside that, there are a lot of paved pathways for those who need more time for the actual trail systems. It allows for so much exercise you wouldn’t find anywhere else in America.
Below are some of the most popular trails in the town:
- Blowing Springs Park Extended Loop: Whether you’re a mountain biker, runner, or birder, you’ll enjoy this scenic 6.1-kilometer (3.8-mile) loop near Bella Vista. It is easy to moderate for hikers to complete in 1 hour and 26 minutes on average.
- Tanyard Loop: Tanyard Loop is another fan-favorite in Bella Vista. From multiple reviews, the trail is best explored from April through November and generally takes about 50 minutes to complete. It is about 3.5 kilometers (2.2 miles) long, with some of it on private property.
- Bella Vista Lake Trail: If you don’t want to compromise on natural beauty during bike rides or hikes, this is the perfect trail for you in Bella Vista. However, it comes with a cost—it is highly prone to floods, which can render it unpassable sometimes. However, on a good day, the journey through this 5.1-kilometer (3.2-mile) trail is one of the most exciting for all skill levels.
- North Upper and South Lower Trails Loop: This trail in Blowing Springs Park is one of the most challenging in the town. However, experienced hikers complete it in less than 45 minutes. It is 3.2 kilometers (2.0 miles) in length, open year-round, and welcomes leashed dogs.
- Back 40 Loop: Back 40 trail is 36.4 kilometers (22.6 miles) long. Its scenic views are gorgeous throughout, and despite being popular, you can enjoy its tranquility at particular times of the day.
5. Unique Homes
This is my favorite thing about Bella Vista. Barely any two homes are similar because most were just custom-built recently or many years ago.
It’s cool to drive down one road while exploring the variety of houses and not see any cookie-cutter homes.
Hence, it’s fun to be in your nook (your little paradise) next to trail systems. You’ll feel tucked away from everything in your little tree paradise.

Final Thoughts
Despite Fayetteville or Bentonville stealing most of NWA’s attention, there are still smaller yet exciting towns around. Bella Vista is one of them that I love for the following reasons:
- Scenic beauty
- Vegetation that tucks residents away
- Golf, pools, and lakes galore
- Impressive trail system
- Unique homes
Hence, if you’re considering a move to Northwest Arkansas, Bella Vista should be in your thoughts!
