What Is Crepes Paulette?

Crepes Paulette is a trendy French restaurant that serves mostly crepes, but if this sounds boring, you’re completely wrong. They’ve built their entire menu around crepes, including breakfast, entrees, and desserts.

At one time, they had a food truck but decided to close that in favor of opening their downtown Bentonville location. The last day for their food truck was in January 2020.

Crepes Paulette Menu

When you walk into the downtown Bentonville Crepes Paulette restaurant, you’re greeted with one of the most comprehensive crepe menus in America. Well, in Northwest Arkansas, anyway.

Because of their extensive menu, I’ll give you a sample of what you can expect to find when you visit:

  • La Thai: Chicken, peanut sauce, sliced cabbage, cilantro, and egg.
  • La Classic: Black forest ham, sharp cheddar, and egg.
  • La Beast: Black forest ham, Genoa salami, bacon bits, mild cheddar, and egg.
  • La Club: Chicken, bacon bits, Swiss cheese, spinach, mayo, and Dijon mustard.
  • La Super Paulette: Feta, spinach, mushrooms, french fried onions, garlic salt, and egg.

While the above are savory, they have an impressive array of sweet crepes too. Here are a few that are noteworthy:

  • Foster: Salted caramel, banana, and cinnamon.
  • Strawberry Cheesecake: Butter, sugar, cream cheese icing, and fresh strawberries.
  • Oreo Cheesecake: Oreos, butter, sugar, and cream cheese icing.
  • Pecan Pie: Salted caramel and pecans.
  • Nutty Monkey: Banana, dark chocolate ganache, and walnuts or pecans.
  • Cinnaroll: Cinnamon, butter, sugar, and cream cheese icing.

Many of their crepes are handheld, so you can get them to go if you’d like. Especially in the summer, a handheld crepe can get you outside quicker as they’re very portable.

You can also choose various coffees or other drinks, and for your canine companion, they offer a plain buckwheat crepe with butter.

History of Crepes Paulette

Crepes Paulette started as a food truck in 2010 by Paula Jo Chitty Henry and her French husband Frederic Henry. Their goal was to create a casual spin on many great cuisines, all wrapped in delectable crepes and galettes.

Because of their popularity, in 2016, they opened a full, permanent restaurant in downtown Bentonville. They kept up both business locations for almost four years until they decided to shut down the food truck. Now, the only place you can get their delectable creations is at their restaurant.

What makes them so popular is that they participate in many local fundraisers and they recycle as much as possible. Combined with creating delicious food, this makes them very popular in an area that prides itself on sustainability and recycling.

Local Recommendations for Tourists

As a tourist experiencing Crepes Paulette for the first time, what should you choose? I might be biased because I’m a sucker for crepes, so my recommendation is to try whatever you like, as they’re all good.

However, here are a few good ones that you might consider trying as your first foray into Crepes territory:

  • Nutella and banana for a sweet tooth.
  • La Bete, for the meat lover.
  • La Veggie Thai, for the vegetarian.
  • La Turtle, for that hard-care sweet craving.
  • La Classic, for getting a feel of crepes.

But as I mentioned, you really can’t go wrong with any crepe on the menu, as they’re all so good. However, if you’re not in the mood for crepes, they offer a few different soups that can warm you up on a cold day.

Or if you’re extra hungry, you can combine a cup of soup with a crepe for a full meal.

Conclusion

Crepes Paulette might be my favorite restaurant in Northwest Arkansas, and you can see why. Their crepes are simply amazing, and I can’t get enough of them. It has a definitive French vibe, and it’s so fun to go there.

You can bring friends and family there, and everyone will find something they like. You won’t be disappointed.
