1. Northwest Arkansas Is a Great Wine and Grape Area

People are usually unaware that Northwest Arkansas is a great wine country. The region bodes very well for both grapes and berries. People may notice that there are several grape and wine festivals happening around the area due to many wineries with a ton of grapes and berries.

These wineries do really crazy, amazing things out there regarding wine. I’m not necessarily a wine connoisseur or expert, but I have heard from people who have traveled in Northwest Arkansas that the region has impressive wines. These people, coming from Texas, California, and even France and Spain, are impressed with the wine Northwest Arkansas produces.

Northwest Arkansas’ weather works perfectly for grapes and wineries, specifically around Tontitown. There’s a grape festival held every year, and thousands of people worldwide flock to the area to check it out and taste the grapes and wines.

2. Northwest Arkansas Is Subtropical

Another fascinating thing about Northwest Arkansas that people don’t talk about or know about is that the region is technically subtropical.

The region’s subtropical weather is very special and unique, meaning the humidity is higher despite the geography having many mountains, valleys, and hills. However, Northwest Arkansas doesn’t get as hot as other parts of the state, and the humidity is not nearly as high as in other places during summertime.

Northwest Arkansas is hotter by about five to ten degrees during summer, which is definitely warmer than winter. However, the humidity is a bit reduced. Also, the region sits at a higher elevation level than other parts of Arkansas or the entire United States, which is around 1,600 to 2,000 above sea level. So it cools things down a bit.

Also, I have a 3-day itinerary that can help you decide what activities to do if you’re overwhelmed by everything Northwest Arkansas has to offer.

3. The Region Hosts World Travelers

Another cool thing about Northwest Arkansas that people usually don’t talk about is that we have world travelers here all the time.

So we have people flying in from the rest of the United States and from different areas, including South America, China, Canada, and parts of Europe, to visit Northwest Arkansas for a variety of reasons, whether it’s for J.B. Hunt, Tyson Foods, Walmart, business, or for the mountain biking scene.

People will literally fly here with their mountain bikes, or they will rent mountain bikes in Bentonville. And they’ll just go to town on the trail system as it is desirable to come here and do that. If you want to learn more about other things you can do in Bentonville, please check out my article here.

And on top of that, many people from Asia come to the university for doctorate degrees, whether in science, medicine, marketing, technology, or bitcoin. So the college is set up for everyone to come here and learn from everyone else.

Whether it’s between the college or medical facilities, the region has a VA hospital and a children’s hospital. Northwest Arkansas has all sorts of different things that bring people here. People come to do their residency here, and we have a lot of people coming here to complete their law degrees. So the university draws a lot of people.

The medical and tech industries bring a lot of people to the region. Walmart, Tyson Foods, and J.B. Hunt bring a lot of people. Mountain biking is bringing a lot of people as well.

4. People in Northwest Arkansas Are “Light-Conscious”

Another interesting thing about Northwest Arkansas, which is a little out of the blue, is that they’re very “light-conscious.”

Many cities around here are really invested in ensuring that the light from trail systems or downtown sections doesn’t leak out into the sky.

If you’re driving through Northwest Arkansas, driving down 49, and driving at night specifically, you’ll never notice insanely bright lights around the area. This is because many cities are conscious of light leaking into the sky.

So one thing you’ll notice is that anywhere you live in Northwest Arkansas, the skies will be black and dark, and you’ll see the stars. Cities want to ensure they don’t waste light and make the whole city a monster city that is just bright.

The other thing is that these cities get grants from the State of Arkansas and different organizations that allow them to invest in lighting systems that make the light stay in the actual city itself. The light is hidden in the mountains and between the trees, and you’re not going to notice them.

5. Northwest Arkansas Has a Major Airport

The last exciting thing about Northwest Arkansas that people don’t usually talk about is that the region has a major airport that travels all across America.

There are like 30 non-stop flights that you can get throughout the week that go right from here to Chicago, Los Angeles, Texas, Florida, and wherever you want to go across America.

And on top of that, there are transfer flights if there isn’t a non-stop flight at a specific time where passengers can jump off and jump to another one. So you can get anywhere in America, right from Northwest Arkansas.

Several places in America are up and coming and have affordable housing, but many of these don’t have major jobs or corporations. These places don’t have a major airport that allows people to travel outside of these areas. These regions are just catching up on infrastructure.

One of the unique things that makes Northwest Arkansas an exceptional place is that the region has the infrastructure already done and ready, and they’re growing consistently. The area has a major airport that anyone can travel in and out of at any point of the week, any time of the day. And they can get anywhere you want to in America, just right through Northwest Arkansas.
