1. Ozark Compost
The first one on our list is a fascinating, fun, unique business model and it can relate to my mother. My mom is a massive gardener with a high mastery level and is a big composter. She lives here now, so it’s interesting to know all the different gardening experiences down here.
One of the most interesting businesses is called Ozark Compost. Instead of people throwing organic material in the trash or potentially even down the drain, Ozark Compost will take it away and compost it.
And their big idea is about removing all that stuff from land waste. We know organic material will stay there forever if we put those materials there, or worse, it will never come out. So all the organic things that we can just toss into our compost, Ozark Compost will take it away for us and bring the container back, and we just keep filling it up.
The other cool thing is that they are motivated to remove the compost and leave it away from the landfill.
Again, it is very interesting to see this brand new business growing around Northwest Arkansas. I would consider this more of an experimental business because the experimental side comes from the idea that there are many things we can refill versus tossing that box, plastic, or metal all over again.
It’s really exciting to see this brand new business come around here and try to innovate.

2. Ozark Luxury Camping
The second business we will feature is called Ozark Luxury Camping. This is an excellent business because they do camping with your style of preference, such as Marvel, princess style, etc. They will match your chosen theme and make little campsites within your home and deck them out for a party or special event.
What’s more extraordinary is the fact that they are luxury glamping. So, if you want to bring tents on your property, have people coming into town, or want to do glamping somewhere in the middle of the forest, they have all of that ready for you.
So it’s not just camping where they pitch a tent, this is true glamping. Check out their website and Instagram account.
Therefore, if you don’t want to go out and rough it out too much, they are your source for glamorous camping. It’s an amusing and exciting business located around the Ozark area.

3. NWACC Bike Degree
The next one on our list isn’t really a business but more of a degree program. The Northwest Arkansas Community College (NWACC) is the only community college in the world that has an actual bicycle technician program.
Many bicycle companies are moving into Northwest Arkansas because it is the mountain biking capital of the world, which is remarkable. So if you put a business anywhere, you might as well be in the hub of everything. On top of that, they have a program where you can go through community college and become a bicycle technician.
Now you might be thinking, “Why would you need that?” But here’s the thing about mountain biking or cycling: they are hard to work on, and it takes some skill to get them right.
And the interesting thing is that these aren’t the huffy bikes you’re pulling off Walmart. We’re talking $10,000 to $40,000 bikes. And obviously, you must have a particular skill set for working on things that cost above $10,000. Because do you bring your car to someone who’s certified? Of course, we do. If you have a vehicle or transportation method that costs $10,000, it needs to be serviced.
Therefore, you might need a little extra education behind you to do the actual work itself.
And so there’s a degree platform and certification over at the community college – the first in the world and super innovative.
4. The Exercise Coach
The fourth business is a new gym called the Exercise Coach in Bentonville. This business is technically a gym, but it is by far the most interesting and technology-driven gym I’ve ever seen.
The interesting part is that they use artificial intelligence with all sorts of data sets to change the workout as you exercise in real-time. There are specialized machines with artificial intelligence, and all the data sets are based on your body style.
When you go in, they will do all the assessments with a coach and prepare everything based on your fitness goals. They have specific machines that are designed to do the workout based on how many times you worked out, how much weight to increase or the things you’re going to do on this many days or times.
It’s so data-driven, and it’s fascinating to see how gyms and other sorts of sports, in general, are becoming way more data-centric by using the heart rate, sweat rate, different kinds of calories, intake, outtake, etc. They can put this information into a data set and help you either lose weight or gain strength through muscle, whatever the case is, and they can use that data to make it faster, better, and more efficient for your body goals.

5. TradePort
The last business I will discuss is called TradePort. I like to believe I understand a lot about blockchain, Web3, and NFTs, but I’m not going to lie here.
This is an exciting company based in Fayetteville. From what I understand, TradePort is building the infrastructure to handle NFTs and redesigning or implementing new things to manage the blockchain, NFTs, etc.
And if you don’t know what NFT is, it’s essentially a digital signature saying you own a thing. For example, an image. Like patents that say, “I have ownership over that,” NFT essentially says, “I have ownership of that digital thing.”
What’s cool is that they just got a bunch of pre-seed funding, which isn’t like seed funding. This is before a startup gets new angel funding or seed funding.
So it’s cool to have a business focused on Web3, the next version of the Internet, located right here in Fayetteville.
